Waiting on the World to Change
Audition
Randy: I actually think man, all things considered, you have an actually really good voice.
I was impressed - 16 - I thought you sounded good. I heard no signs of any vocal whatever-alysis, it was great!
Paula: I think you have a nice tone - mature for your young age. And you're a sweetheart! I think you're talented.
Simon: David, I have to say I agree with Paula and Randy. I thought it was a great choice of song by the way.
Really liked that.

Randy: Dude, I gotta tell you man, I am so impressed with you - at 16. That was the bomb! The best I've heard
yet since we been here for days! You you, yes you!
Paula: You're like, you're a gem - and for the whole world to see, I can't wait.
Simon: You have so many things going for you. You're young, you're good looking, you're likable, and you got
a great voice. That's not a bad place to be, is it?

Randy: David Archuleta. Dude, how old are you man? You know look man, I'm a big fan, I thought that was really
brilliant. And you know, what I loved dude, you were just born with this gift because I'm saying, you sang that song so
mature for somebody 17, I'm like 'Yo, man this kid is ready to go!'. So dude I loved it, I loved it.
Paula: I feel it was a very brave and bold choice of song for you - we've never seen that side of you and whats interesting
is I forget all about how old you are, I just look at this unbelievably confident older soul that just knows whats best
for you. You really did a great job, David - you really did a great job.
Simon: When you got it, you got it. And David that was, by a comfortable mile, best performance of the night so far.

Randy: Alright so check it out baby, check it out. I've been saying all this year it's about the young ones, dawg, that's
one of the best vocals I've ever heard on this show. You singing with such maturity way beyond your years and all you can say
is you were born to do exactly what you're doing there. That was brilliant! Brilliant baby - hot, hot, fire, fire!
Paula: David, you are ridiculous. I wanted to squish you, squeeze your head off and dangle you from my rear view mirror.
No, honest to God, that was one of the most beautiful songs ever written and one of the most moving performances I've ever heard.
Soak it all in - you're destined for superstardom.
Simon: Very, very risky to do a John Lennon song, particularly that one, but it worked. And I thought I'd tell you, right
now you're the one to beat and there are nineteen very miserable contestants sitting here tonight - trust me - after that.

Another Day in Paradise
Top 18 Performance
Randy: David Archuleta. It's like watching one of your concerts, man. I like that - piano playing and then you
get up, grab the mic. Uh, you know I thought it was good. It was an interesting song choice for me for you didn't show off
all your vocal range and what you can do, but uh it was nice, you know there were a couple of pitch problems here and there but it
was nice. It was nice.
Paula: I love that there were a couple notes that were off because it proved to me you're not this make-believe person
hologram that can do everything PERFECT. In that imperfection though you still are perfect. You're perfectly wonderful for this
competition. You have a wonderful sensibility, David, to pick songs that you can really shine on. Keep going for it.
Simon: Uh David, it wasn't as good as last week. I think you should've A stayed at the piano and I think you gotta be
careful, you're seventeen years old, you're becoming like its all getting a little bit gloomy here. And you haven't gotta
keep singing sad songs - we had 'Imagine' last week, 'Another Day in Paradise' this week, but I just think you gotta lighten
up a little bit David. There's no question you're gonna make it through to the Finals next week, you're probably gonna be in
the final two but I think now we've gotta see a slighty different, more fun side occassionally. Otherwise it might get a bit
depressing.

We Can Work It Out
Top 12 Performance
Randy: Check it out man, check it out. You know I like your voice, you know I'm a fan of yours, right? This week dawg,
it was not on point, man. This kind of vibe is not your vibe for me. It felt very forced and it just really didn't quite work,
I mean, you know. All I'm hearing in my head is that Stevie version dude, and ain't nobody gonna do that better. It just
didn't work for me quite.
Paula: You know what, this wasn't your best week, but David, you are a front runner - you're a strong person in this
competition. Just forgetting the lyrics, it gets a little tough. You can never let it show on your face, never let it show
on your face my dear. It's ok though. You know what? We love ya!
Simon: Ok David, we've got twelve people here all in the same position, all wanna win the competition so I'm gonna
treat everybody fairly. That was a mess, right? You stumbled over the lyrics in the beginning. Randy's quite right - you should
not have done the Stevie Wonder version, it was just all over the place. And at this point in the competition, I expect
incredible performances. It wasn't - it was your weakest performance so far.

Long and Winding Road
Top 11 Performance
Randy: Alright David, check it out baby. Their right to clap because David Archuleta's brought the hotness back to his
game tonight with that right there! One thing, let me give you one piece of advice. See, that's the thing man. It's a little
mature for you but that's the kind of song that you coulda sung a couple of runs and got by with it, so you played it a little
safe - it was still brilliant - but I'm saying take the liberty on joys like that. Very nice though, man!
Paula: It's probably, for me, the most exciting and wonderful performance 'cause the purity of who you are and what your
sound is, is very identifiable. And the fact that you can rise above adversity, come back strong, that challenge doesn't build
character, it reveals your character - and you're wonderful.
Simon: David, last week was a complete mess. This week, I thought you were amazing. You absolutely made my point what I
was trying to say on the previous contestant. It is so important that A) you sell a song and B) you remember a performance. And
that was a masterclass.

You're The Voice
Top 10 Performance
Randy: Alright check it out baby, check it out. You know what, it was a strange song choice for me but guess what man?
See it proves once again, if you can sing, you can sing whatever. So David's got mad skills! It was still very nice, very nice,
very nice - I don't know the song - but very nice.
Paula: I think all of us were trying to figure that out. Couldn't of picked an American composer? I'm just kidding, I'm
just kidding! David, you could sing the phone book and we'd fall in love with you.
Simon: Uh David, you know, you sang it well in parts but I'm gonna be honest with you and this is not gonna make me
very popular, um I actually didn't the performance at all. I thought it was actually reminiscent of a theme park performance.
I did! You know it's one of those ghastly songs you sing, you know when you've got like animated creatures with you and
everyone joins in together. That's what it reminds me of! I don't think that is you at all. And I'd be amazed if you chose
the song yourself because it's not you, sorry.

Randy: David Archuleta, guess what baby? David Archuleta is back tonight and I stand corrected - that was the best
performance of the night right there!
Paula: An amazing tone in your voice - you're strong, you have a beautiful ora about you. You're just glorious, no
doubt.
Simon: Uh David, you know I had issues with your choice of song last week - this week, absolutely on the money!

Randy: Check this out. You know what I loved about this performance, other than this is an amazing song,
when you did the little refrain at the end when you stopped and you did those runs, thats the David Archuleta dude that I
love. That was your hottest moment the whole season! Crazy, crazy, crazy hot! Loved it!
Paula: (crowd cheers) You know what? That sums it up for me. Fantastic.
Simon: David, best song choice of the night so far. I mean, why this song? I've never seen a hit here. It's amazing,
I mean this is one of the best pop songs in my opinion written. I'm not gonna say it was your best vocal, however though.
I thought it was a bit nasally, I thought the end part was better than the beginning. David, I'm nitpicking here because
you are going to sail through to the next round.
